Setting Styles

I'll start by describing the different styles of engagement ring settings and start with the most popular one the Solitaire setting. Probably the most popular in bridal rings, this ring comes with either four- or six-prongs which secure the diamond is safely set in the ring setting. This style is also known as a “Tiffany” setting, that is because it was originally designed by the founder of Tiffany & Co. in 1886.
This choice is very advisable since the main factor in a diamonds brilliance is the light traveling through the stone; prong settings allow the maximum amount of light to enter a gemstone from all angles, maximizing its brilliance.
Six prongs provide added security in holding the stone. In most cases the amount of prongs depend on the shape of the diamond being set, a princess square diamond because of its shape is usually set in 4 prongs and round stones are set in 6 prongs providing maximum security to the diamond.
